Wash A Ball Cap: How To Clean A Baseball Cap

Before I explain how to wash a baseball cap, understand that you should not use this method on any highly valuable cap, such as one with a great deal of sentimental or monetary value. You should only wash a ball cap that you do not mind damaging slightly. Cleaning ball caps is not an exact science and something might go wrong. Still, if you are interested in cleaning a baseball cap before the next game read on to learn how to clean a baseball cap.

How To Clean A Baseball Cap Without Washing It

Because they are fragile, try cleaning a baseball cap without water first. Sprinkle the inside of the cap with baking soda and let it sit overnight. The next day, shake the soda out of the cap. Next, rub any spots on the cap with a little dry detergent to remove them. Brush it away and see what’s left. If your cap is still dirty, move on to the instructions on how to wash a ball cap.

To wash a ball cap, begin by pretreated any spots on the inside and outside with a little Ivory soap. Rub it in well with you damp fingers and then rinse the cap under cool running water. Shake the hat out to remove any excess water. Then allow the cap to dry out of direct sunlight. If you like, you can stuff the cap with a hand towel to make sure it keeps it shape as it dries.

If you do not care at all about your cap and just want to get it clean so you can wear it to cut the lawn, you can always just pretreat it with a laundry pretreater and throw it in the wash on a gentle cycle. Then allow the clean cap to dry as described above.

    Wash a baseball cap in the dishwasher on the top rack nested inside a preformed plastic baseball cap devise. Four caps may be washed at one time.
