While the care of granite countertops does not require special tools, it is a good idea to wipe the counter down at least once a week with a damp cloth. You can also use one of several specially formulated granite counter cleaners, but this is not mandatory.
Do not try to mix your own granite counter cleaners as they may have either too high or too low a pH and cause permanent damage to your counters.
How To Clean Granite Countertops: The Don’ts
Never use any cleaning product, soap or abrasive on a granite counter unless it is specifically formulated for that use. If you do, you may find yourself with a clean granite counter that is also badly scratched and permanently stained with harsh chemicals.
Appreciating A Clean Granite Counter
When you are done with your cleanup at the end of each day, take a moment to admire your clean granite counter. Appreciate the specks of different types of rock scatter throughout and the subtle shading that it took nature millennia to create. If you take even a few moments a day to appreciate their beauty, you will find the care of granite countertops much less burdensome.
