Cleaning a blender is one of those jobs that is extremely difficult if you don’t know what you’re doing, and easy if you have a working method. Some people think that washing a blender is so difficult it’s not even worth using one in the first place. Others are afraid that they’ll cut themselves while trying to wash blender blades. However, knowing how to clean a blender is a handy skill for any aspiring chef. Read on for several handy, dandy blender cleaning tips.
How to Clean Blender Blades and Bowls
As soon as you finish using your blender, remove it from the engine and take it to the sink. This is because, before washing a blender, you most rinse it out well. Do not take the blender apart. Just rinse it out well with hot water, then fill it half way full with the hottest water you have. Add a couple of drops of dish detergent and reattach the bowl, with the blade in place, to the base. Now you see how to wash blender blades the easy way. Simply run the blender for 10 seconds on a medium speed.
Next, take the blender bowl and blades back to the sink and loosen the bottom so that the soapy water drains out. Then, without retightening the blade, rinse the blender well and place it upside down to dry.
When you are sure that the blender is completely dry, retighten the blade cuff and store it on the electric base.
Other Blender Cleaning Tips
If you don’t want to hand wash your blender, you can take it apart and place it in the dishwasher, as long as the manufacturer doesn’t forbid it.
If you do put the blender in the dishwasher, make sure you place the blades somewhere safe where you won’t cut yourself when you reach in to get it out.
